True I was so proud to have come up with that theory on my own; it's bittersweet to see it stolen and proven in one stroke.
Rice said, "but the fact is that many of these people live far from their neighbors and hours from medical professionals. These factors can worsen depression and lead to suicide." Of course, one paragraph later, Rice is blaming the problem on a lack of infrastructure which he can (coincidentally) provide.
I think the infrastructure that's missing is "happiness". 3% of the population is in some Zen state where nothing upsets or interferes with regular merriment. Mostly, they're transplants from cities, or the town's rich (a relative term, you know: I'm talking about guys who owned a lumber yard or two gas stations, that kind of thing. Small potatoes but the next best thing to aristocracy in the sticks), the ones with perspective. Everyone else is miserable.
