| in farcry the binoculars would instantly tag anything in front of you (except behind solid objects) so you could just tap them, instantly paint an area even if they were behind trees, whatever
in crysis it's a little harder, you needed to lock onto specific people, also there were more patrols around buildings and such so you couldn't really paint people nearly as often, and of course if they were behind leaves you wouldn't know where they were to paint them in the first place |
