I played Fire Red on an emulator back when it first came out, and can still remember most of the original 151's names and weaknesses. Then I saw the cartoon (anime) and all the Geocities sites and decided the whole thing wasn't for me. But now, it seems like Pokemon got so lame and overexposed that it looped back around to become cool and underground again, like South Park fans think South Park did (it didn't). I hear there's a new one coming out soon, would that be a good place to start over, or would I be hopelessly lost in obscure pokelore?

(Disregard if having unlocked all the Pokemon was part of the dream and not sko sad spillover from real life.)
