demo

Some of the puzzles are pretty retarded, but it has a few things going for it that no other puzzle game does.

  • Space highlights all the clickables. Sure the game doesn't tout this as the massive Adventure game break it is, but once you know, it really helps. It's likely that other adventure games have been doing this, but I'm just as impressed as when I first held down ALT in Diablo 2.
  • Play the demo, if the voice actor for Van Helsing doesn't have you clicking the shit out of Godalming Manor to hear him say "Godalming Manor", the game might not appeal to you. I just love what levels of cunt the voice actor for him can achieve.
  • There are plenty of inane item combination puzzles, but the only problems I've had were missing clickable things (before I knew about the space bar). Lots of the puzzles are just out right puzzles though, which is great. "This turk seems to have a mechanism called 'lights out' to safeguard his door".
  • The game touts use of the Ageia PhysX engine, which is a puzzle in itself. I still can't see where, or imagine why this game would need any physics at all. Maybe I'm just not at the point where messing up a puzzle results in Van Helsing having the shit pounded out of him by vampires, which will be awesome I'm sure.
