Also we are not counting Iron Maiden derivatives like The Sword, or stuff that is at least as much rawk as metal, like Black Mountain, or the stuff that is metal but also art (gay) rock, like the metally bits of Lansing-Dreiden. Anything that might be labelled prog IS prog hence not metal. Prog-metal is prog, not metal. No exceptions.

Prog guys are really close to being warm and accepting like metal guys, but they are always wanting to one-up you a little bit, like "well Jethro Tull is cool, but have you heard the new Seriously Dark Blackbyrds? Now that's some flute playing!"
