eeehhh.....
- For some reason load times are 2-3 times longer than Dark Crusade.
- Campaign now takes place over 4 planets, which doesn't mean much since each planet is 1/4th the size of the Dark Crusade campaign. The default view zooms out to show all planets, making all territories teeny tiny and impossible to see. You can only zoom in on planets when confirming an attack or reinforcing; for no reason at all you can't issue orders while zoomed in.
- Flying units add nothing to the game, since every ranged unit can hit them anyways. They're more like the Space Marine hovercraft.
So mostly steps back from Dark Crusade.
2 new races!
The sisters of battle are 90% similar to space marines, except their units are slightly weaker to balance out their special faith powers. The dark eldar are 90% similar to regular eldar except their units are slightly weaker to balance out their special soul energy powers. Neither of the Sisters' or DE's powers seem useful enough to make up for their weaker units, unless the DA spend a ton of time saving up to release them all at once. The sisters can only store enough for one good one at a time or two decent ones.
The whole point of dark eldar harvesting souls from dead enemies is moot since their cheapest and most abundant building automatically produces as many souls as your workers can harvest.
Both races don't seem very polished looking, like they're part of a user made mod that had to work with existing models and animations. Building animations and skins for sisters is the exact same as imperial guard, only with some gold paint. |
