Well if they're bringing up Fatal Attraction, here's an interesting comparison of that flick with the earler, better, "Play Misty for Me," written by a scientist.

Although I take issue with that list's inclusion of Mr. Smith goes to Washington. Mr Smith tries to take on the corrupt powerhouses of Washington and is literally squashed like a bug. The even that snatches victory from the jaws of doom is so unlikely, it's practically deus ex machina.

So I guess that kind of makes it like "It's a Wonderful Life" another crushingly depressing movie about a little guy having his hopes and dreams slowly stolen from him, then being ruined by events out of his control, and the only thing preventing him from making the jump is divine intervention.
