Arrrgh, I can't find a link for this, but some of the local sports radio dudes were talking about Haslett's press conference. Evidently, he was asked if he knew how many more games the Saints would win this season. Putting aside the fact that that question is, beyond doubt, the fucking dumbest question ever, Haslett trumped it by responding along the lines of, "If I knew, I'd pull a Pete Rose and bet on it!" He wasn't laughing when he said it.

Yes, Jim: compare yourself to Pete Rose. What a fucking fantastic idea. Would you like to be some other team's defensive coordinator next year, or just simply unemployed? SHUT THE FUCK UP.

Haslett's problems somewhat stem from the fact that Randy Mueller got mysteriously fired a while back, but also because he's incredibly stubborn.

The Mueller thing -- you know how the general opinion of everyone not slobbing the knob of the userlist on Q23 is that video game journalists are completely worthless as they're unable to really criticize their developer and publisher overlords because eventually they will not get access to previews and interviews and other crap nobody truly cares about? Well, this is the New Orleans media as well. "Kenny Wilkerson" is the beat reporter who apparently has his local finger on the pulse of the team but won't tell anyone what he knows because it would irrevocably damage his ability to dig up more dirt that he'll never reveal to his readers. He's a piece of shit, Mueller got fired for God only Knows what reasons and we haven't had a real GM since (Mickey Loomis... yes... "Mickey" is a simple bean-counter who has shown no ability to identify talent).

Without a real talent evaluator (lookit up -- the only bad pick Mueller EVER made was Lamar King. Everyone else, whether they were first round, obvious picks or hidden gems like Ahman Green, Walter Jones, Shawn Springs (for freaking RICK MIRER), Darren Howard, Chad Morton, Deuce McAllister, a trade for Aaron Brooks -- all of his personnel decisions kicked ass. Why he's at ESPN I have no idea) it was up to Haslett and our pathetic non-GM Loomis to grab guys... and they picked people who they simply aren't going to play.

Jon Stinchcomb is an offensive tackle that we took in the second round two years ago. He's never played a down. In two fucking years! He's been inactive, mostly. Who the fuck knows why. A second round pick wasted under Haslett (I have to think the new guy at least gets Stinchcomb out on the field next year).

We got two picks for Dreadhead. One went to Charles Grant, who is going to the Pro Bowl this year. The other was packaged with our normal 2002 first and we took DT Johnathan Sullivan at #6 overall. He's been a bust as well. Last week he was inactive for like the 15th time in his short career and he went up to the press box and gobbled down two giant hamburgers. Haslett can't motivate this fat sack of shit AND THAT'S HIS JOB. Okay, now we have a second round pick wasted and two firsts.

Devrey Henderson is a WR who should be having a similar season to Lee Evans right now. Henderson held out at the beginning of the year and missed 8 days of practice. Haslett is claiming that Henderson isn't caught up yet. That he's got five receivers -- one of which is worthless 7th rounder Talman Gardner who will NEVER amount to a hill of beans in this crazy world -- and Devrey is going to have to continue to be inactive and sit behind that mope.

The count is now two seconds and two firsts.

He took Courtney Watson, LB, in the second with the pick we got for Turley. Funny, because we are the 2nd worst defense in the last 40 years, according to Fox Sports last week. Watson ain't playing. Three 2nds and two firsts.

This is why Haslett is losing. He refuses to play the fucking people he drafted. The only other team that I can think of that got less out of their drafts recently is the Dolphins, and they are going 2-14 this season. Maybe the guys taken suck, maybe it's not Haslett at fault... hey, fantastic. But HE is ultimately responsible for taking them, because his GM can do nothing but count ticket receipts and yell at the fans, even though they've sold out the Dome for four straight years to watch intolerably awful football.

Get him the fuck out of there. He's also never going to ever fire our DC Rick Venturi or our OC Mike McCarthy because he's so stubborn. I can't stand coaches who feel they come as a package deal with their co-ordinator buddies. Haslett is a bright guy who figured out how to consistently beat every team in his division including the Bucs and Rams when they were champs, but this team being 4-7 and currently losing 3-0 to the Panthers while making it look like it should be 17-0 already is just a complete waste of everyone's time, but most damnably... MINE.
