At the same time, there are situations like the Classic Gaming Expo last year: Walter was hanging out by the machines they brought (Sinistar, Donkey Kong, Popeye and one more I can't remember) and after you finished he'd ask you your name. Because the average gamer might just wander over there, play a game for fun and think nothing of it, their scores will be horrible and if they pipe up with the name, they'd get entered into the database that way. This is what happened to me with my 25,000 Sinistar score at the Classic Gaming Expo last year. If I had known better, I could have gotten my name in there and been tripled-up by at least one girl. Similarly I've been turning my attention to Kung Fu Master recently and looked at the scores to see that my top game puts me at #15. Crazier is that the KFM scores go up to #23, inexplicably. 9,300! One day Peter Bibbings of York, UK might get to the end of level 1 and submit a new score to overtake #22. The best part is that there is a good chance that Peter doesn't remember any of this, and couldn't pick KFM out of a lineup where the other games were all Golden Tees. Coincidentally I have been playing three or four games a day of this for the last three months and I can't get past the guy at the end of the 4th board. I kick his head off and another one appears - but sometimes he spawns a twin. I'm determined to at least once finish the game. I do like that Kung Fu Master says, right at the beginning, that "The 5 Sons of the Devil will entertain you." It's a kind of confidence in itself that I appreciate, something we don't see often except for the occasional "Thank you for loving Gunbound." the dark and gritty...Ice Cream Jonsey! |
