I think I rented the wrong Undertow :( by Jerry Whorebach 02/22/2008, 5:32am PST The one I saw was a psychological thriller starring Lou Diamond Phillips that probably didn't get too many four-star reviews. It's about an aimless drifter of indeterminate ethnicity, who crashes his car in the middle of nowhere during a hurricane. He gets rescued by a mean old mountain man (The Last Action Hero's Charles Dance) and his submissive young bride (Timecop's Mia Sera), and invited to wait out the storm in their big rustic cabin with no telephones or electricity. I was pretty sure the hillbillies were supposed to represent the drifter's parents, but nothing on IMDb seems to indicate that, so maybe I just imagined it. Anyway, Lou Diamond Phillips ends up boning his mom and killing his dad, then the hurricane stops and he drives away in a big truck under a rainbow. Not a great film, though I did enjoy a scene of Lou Diamond Phillips doing loud, angry push-ups in his bedroom while his "parents" had loud, angry sex in the room directly above. Who's never been there, am I right?
