One of my favorite things about this stuff is that if you spawn a vortigaunt, it'll actually fight.
PS: try spawning some of those tough as fuck poison zombies (npc_poisonzombie). Usually your gun equipped pals have no problem taking them down, especially if there's a vortigaunt around because their zap attack is really powerful.
I tried a few other experiments at some point. You can spawn citizens and combine with rocket launchers. The combine aren't exactly meant to have rocket launchers, so they don't have a "standing still" animation for it, so they sort of go to a default pose with their arms fanned out and their posture is all rigid. The citizens and combine both do that if you give them a crowbar. The thing is that they can still use all of these things. One disappointment was that they can't use the 357. If you try to spawn them with one, they just walk around empty handed, but if they die then they drop a 357.
As Gabe always says, perhaps modders can change these things in the future.
Then again: SvenCoop 2 will be in the works when the SDK is out.
Also, when the SDK is out, you can put some of those medic classes in to a map. And then make a campaign full of any favorite part of the game you want.
