They have a scene at the end where Charlie is trying to convince a nearly empty room of congressmen to approve a measly 1 million for Afghani schools, and one of them says who cares about schools in Pakistan, and so that evening he gets DRUNK and Hanks puts on his Stan Laurel why-so-cruel-world face, so really I think Ebert just forgot to include the fact that Charlie knew Osama was coming and was ready to stop him but for our own rote American faggotry.
I enjoyed it because of Phillip Seymore Hoffman as the indignant weirdo with big indignant balls of indignance, and because all the women save one are eager sluts, including Julia Roberts as the Chicken Lady. |
