The hardest to find songs ever. by Jhoh Creebul, Witch Toucher O_O 12/22/2007, 12:26pm PST
Back in the early 90s (1993 probably), there was a radio station, 99.5 FM, that for about 2 or 3 months was turned into a novelty joke song and skit station. So it was like the all Dr. Demento station, except they played some really weird shit that I don't know if Demento would even play.

The first thing they did was I think what was called the "crazy countdown," which was a computer voice counting down from either 1,000,000 or 100,000, but it was doing that constantly, 24 hours a day, just counting downwards. I think it took maybe a couple weeks to finally complete, and me and Jso and Mzn were listening, and it said 3, 2, 1, number 1, and then it played a song called "Love Polka #9" by a "band" (SNEER QUOTES) called The Polish Muslims. It was so incredibly stupid that we wrote off the entire station and stopped listening. A week later, we had it on the station constantly and were telling stories about the bizarre shit we heard on it the other day, like the Tourettes greetings cards, or the New York phone company one. We started taping it regularly and would listen in the dead of night on Christmas vacation up to midnight or 1 or 2 in the morning as we would play Super Mario Kart.

I just found some shit about this on a wiki here.

The Failed Attempt At FM Talk

In December 1992, the station started stunting by having a character named "Cowboy Hugh Chardon" (played by Dr. Don Carpenter) play "Friends In Low Places" by Garth Brooks repeatedly (for his good buddy Bobby Stalls in Birmingham) and try to kill "The Fox" using various methods suggested by "listeners". This was followed by an automated countdown that started at midnight on Christmas Day, beginning with 63,752 and ending with number one on December 28, 1992. (This was apparently done so they could rebuild the studios). Instead of changing formats when the countdown ended it stunted for another week with a six hour loop of novelty songs they called "goofy loops" played repeatedly. This continued until the early morning of January 4, 1993 (the first Monday after the holiday week) when the station finally finished changing formats and became "99-5 WOW-FM" WOWF, (the call letters had actually been in place since October, 1992), a news/talk station with broadcasters such as Art Vuolo and Ed Tyll coming to the station. However, by popular demand, the "goofy loops" track was brought back at weekends for the life of the station.

So I was totally wrong, the novelty song "format" only lasted one singular week. :( But I remember when they became a "news" station, and they'd still play the parody songs and shit like midnights on Saturday. I also remember "Dr. Don" being like the main DJ for when the station became a country station just a few months after the whole FM news station idea fell through.

So, here are some songs that soulseek can't find (as searched for here).

Love Polka #9

The Homecoming Queens Got a Gun - Julie Brown

Dead Puppies - The Ogden Edsl Wahalia Blues Ensemble Mondo Bizzario Band (I did get a few hits for this, one says there's a Stephen Lynch version so I download it and it's not Stephen Lynch it's the actual original song >:( hm).

Ones I could probably find if I tried: Fish Heads by that band with the guy who was the kid in Lost in Space, I mean Barnes and Barnes. "Star Trekkin" by The Firm which I already have. Various Weird Al songs. "Purple People Eater" and "Shhhhhhhhhhhhhhhaving Cream," both should be obvious that I don't need either of those songs but you know someone (like probably bdr, psh) would HAVE to bring those up like HEY WHAT ABOUT THOSE and I'd have to be like UM YEAH I DON'T CARE OKAY? Pencil Neck Geek - Fred Blassie, I have that already. "They're Coming To Take Me Away, Ha-Haaa!" - Napoleon XIV (Jerry Samuels), I heard that a million times on this station. The Scotsman - Bryan Bowers (yeah they don't wear underwear under their kilts, I get it). The Masochism Tango - Tom Lehrer, I have this too (on CD even). Sarah Cynthia Sylvia Stout Would Not Take The Garbage Out - Shel Silverstein, I have this too. "Grandma Got Dismembered by a Chainsaw," that's probably a local one or I'll never find that and no one cares about violent Christmas songs anymore, that's SO 1989. "Big Balls" by AC/DC, have that on CD too. Anything by Ray Stevens, don't need it.
