In most movies that have randomness befalling a group, the group is super-tight and/or blood relations. Like, they were friends since childhood and it was supposed to be a simple bachelor party BUT THEN. The problem with that is real life, and real-life activities, are full of jerkoffs you never wanted around in the first place, just like Billy Bob Thornton's character in A Simple Plan.
