The Witcher by FABIO 11/25/2007, 7:16pm PST Even though I've never played Fable, I'm confident in calling this Knight of the Old Republic with a Fable face lift along with that troubling sense of incomplete localization that tends to come from eastern european games. - Intro movie is a 50 hour long fight where nothing new or interesting happens after the first minute. Just barely edges out Blizzard cutscenes. + Plot actually changes based on decisions + Choices are more ambiguous than KotOR's bi-polar good/evil system. - Plot involves the amnesia of your main character who begins the game coming back from the dead as he is wheeled in on a cart. - There seems to be a little too much expectation that the player is already familiar with the Polish comic book like so many Halo novels. The amnesia factor seems like a poorly tacked on excuse to have everyone explain how they know you. - Intro is weak. Said choices take a while to start showing up + tits - Somehow they managed to make sex with ladies gay by turning it into a collectible card game. +/- Voice acting. The voices are good, but it's like the non-English speaking Pole in charge of recording didn't give them any direction, so it sounds like they're reading straight off a piece of paper they just got and a lot of obviously needed inflections are missing. +/- Combat is okay, but it has some bullshit busy worked slapped on to it under the guise of "strategy" where you have to use strong stance vs heavy opponents and fast versus light enemies, or your steel sword against humans and silver sword against monsters.
