When your crosshair was near an enemy, I think you hit the circle button, and it would actually lock on to the enemy for real, it would outline the enemy with a dotted line sort of thing, and you actually could not aim away from it. You could aim within the lock on rectangle zone, so while your crosshair would be glued onto an enemy, you could push the internal crosshair upwards to aim for their heads. I'm sure they added this to help with circle strafing and blowing away headcrabs which would have been very very hard on a Piss 2 CUNTroller.
