The first and second games are pretty much River City Ransom clones with zombies, the third seems like it's a space sim. They no longer have Matrix Smashers X up, which was basically the game game with guns and bullet time.
Zombie Smashers X1 has been released as freeware, I believe. Never tried it.
Zombie Smashers X2 has guns and bullet time. It's very good once you get the kung fu tattoo. Unfortunately the final levels are so filthy with monsters that success has more to do with how much food you've eaten than your actual skills.
Zombie Smashers X3 has lots of great ideas that I hope other action-oriented elite-clones incorporate (Such as, if you buy a giant slow capship and enter combat, you can launch and pilot a zippy fighter while the capship hangs back and provides heavy artillery support.) Unfortunately the game has a few bugs and retarded design mistakes (no Xbox 360 controller support, no invert Y using mouse controls), along with its lack of plot and half-hour news hour quality humor that were game-breakers for me. |
