Vampire Weekend - Vampire Weekend (Blue CD-R prerelease)
Fun and literate and not too nerdy. Also! Very tooty. They will never stay together long enough to release a third album (spoiler); enjoy this first one while you can!
Tegan and Sara - The Con
Slicker than any previous effort. This is good and bad. The bad is that the polished format would never allow a song like "Superstar", which stood out right away as tongue-in-cheek when you heard its 1980s Pepsi Commercial guitars after the 12 tracks of acousticism on This Business of Art. On Con, Superstar would fit right in and you'd be led to believe that Tegan and Sara really wanted to be .... Superstars. This is an album anyone can like.
Arthur & Yu - In Camera
A Mark recommendation. If South Park's "Gay Cowboys Eating Pudding" movie had a soundtrack, maybe this would be it. Deserving of a listen by you.
Bonus: Beautiful South - Golddiggas, Headnodders & Pholk Songs
This is a cover album from 2004 that I just found out about. It's good.
