Once you get into Medical, where there is always audio looping from somewhere, you feel like you're missing something interesting by not listening to all of it. Even in the middle of a firefight with a gang of splicers ("Wait, what did she just say? Fuck!").
As much as I hate to use the word "immersion," this game has it. Even the hacking mini-game, usually something completely gay and/or infuriating, doesn't entirely suck. It's by no means perfect, but as far as FPSs go, it raises the Halflife 2 bar considerably.
