Coop play was suited to LAN parties, BECAUSE: by Grumah 08/08/2007, 7:49am PDT No one really designs coop games at all. They just pump out the 500th Counter Strike realism clone, so there aren't really any coop games to choose from. Except Sven Coop, which was an online game perfectly suited to network play and PUG games. it's pretty much dead for the moment. :( Coop games actually take more effort to develop, it's not just about plopping a bunch of people into an empty square map giving them guns and saying "ok kill each other and make up your own rules for success (most killing blows according to the scoreboard is usually the only way to judge success in deathmatch)." Hopefully Left 4 Dead will end the deathmatch era. That way, deathmatch games become a sort of nostalgic fucking niche classic gametype gamey THING type of stuff. So I won't have to ever play them again.
