I'm looking for a sub-$3000 TV on which I'll mostly play games and as a bonus I'll hook up my living room MP3 computer to it too. If I ever get that Quake 3 LAN tournament off the ground, it'll really come in handy. I figure I want to go 1080p to futureproof it, but is this a dumb reason? Haterz need not answer that. After one AIM session with Motherhead and a couple days of perusing websites, I've got a dilemma:
Sharp Aquos 46" (LC46D62U)
CONS: No VGA input, but I could get a DVI to HDMI adapter. Is that any good? For some reason I don't trust it.
Samsung 46" (LNT4665)
CONS: 8 ms response time. Since I'm playing games on it primarily, I feel I should care about this. Plus this is $500 more than the Sharp.
Toshiba 47" (47HL167)
CONS: I don't know, the stats all look good! It's a Toshiba?
Sony Bravia 40" XBR (KDL40XBR2)
CONS: So fucking expensive I have to lose 6" to make it comparable to the other TVs. 8ms response time again.
Thoughts?The Westinghouse 1080p model is only $500 cheaper than the Sharp, so it's not in the running with it's horrible contrast and 8ms response time. |
