Getting the non dying-from-your-stupid-wish endings in STALKER requires fighting literally hundreds of bad guys, often while you're health is rapidly deteriorating due to radiation. While I was able to endure the punishing ballistic model for most of the game, it got really exhausting at this point. Basically, there's no point in trying to aim for the head, or even use a scope. The winning strategy here is to use the silenced assault rifle that fires 9mm bullets to pop up from behind crates and fire short bursts into the torsos of the approaching horde. Deviation from this strategy is possible, it just makes the whole thing take even longer. Also, the endgame occurs entirely within the confines of dark narrow corridors.
The burnt out city that you fight through to get to Chernobyl would totally make up for this if you could snipe effectively, but you can't. I tried playing again at normal difficulty, hoping that it would make the shooting more predictable, but no luck. While you hit where you're pointing more often, it's still not reliable enough to ever try taking single shots. |
