I don't understand why Dave Halverson and his merry crew of pretentious illiterates would elect to make another half-baked magazine with glossy pictures, this time named Rocket and about movies, anime, etc primarily. Essentially, if you took the last few pages of Play and blew them up to a whole issue, magnified all of the same problems of that magazine with the added bonus of a mascot with clever one liners on each page (named R BOT!).

And by magnified, I mean you take the basic premise of Play, which is apparently to fawn all over decidedly B and C games using techniques popular among fourth tier college philosophers. Then you multiply that by how much less they know about movies, and how much more potential there is to write absurd things about bad flicks if you pick them based on who will grant you an interview. Or judge anime by the popular WWKD standard, otherwise known as masturbating about the artwork and summarizing terrible plots with glowing adjectives. And so on.

That's it, you morons. Keep working hard to ensure yet another genre of media magazine never has to look elsewhere to find its worst exemplar. If you can make Gamepro look less retarded, you can do anything.

Some R-BOT quotes for your edification:

"I'd cover my eyes if I didn't have guns for hands...someone needs to unequip these things."

"They asked me to be in Transformers. But I can't work with Optimus...he's such a prima donna"

"I caught on fire once but no one thought I was a demon. Looked more like a comet, I suppose"

"Cover me with fur dude and I'm so there...My super tensile alloy shell is totally shark proof, bro."

And so on. Which would still be criminal even if they weren't attached to terrible articles.

Some nuggets of wisdom:
Dave Halverson wrote:

I was really able to take in Ghost Rider on DVD, and I have to say, as a supernatural spaghetti western starring a man literally on fire, I'm not sure it could have been done much better.

Richard D. Lewis wrote:

28 Weeks Later exceeds the original in every imaginable way...the movie works on every possible level and is a perfectly executed piece of cinema

Prepare to fall in love with CGI all over again, like you did watching Toy Story. In fact, this could be the best I've ever seen (I need to go back and watch Robots and Cars for the tenth time to be sure). The only problem with Surf's Up is how quickly it seems to fly by, coupled with how long I'll have to wait for the DVD

What the fuck? Is Gamefaqs forum member that big a demographic?
