I appreciate that you took the time to post the reply, and if I could comment or give any meaningful input, I would. Perhaps you could tell me what the weaker aspects of your reasoning is and we could all grow together.

PS: We're cheering Jerry on, all of us. He's gone far.


Well as a quickie:

1. I never talked about what actually successful black students do. Which is ridiculous because the whole point was to talk about how to make black students more successful! Anyone looking into the successful black student's family life will probably find: more parental involvement. That's a grease-cutter FACT which would have peeled off many relevant layers of identity politics. However it also strengthens my conclusions.

2. It was a mistake to bring up successful women in the same sentence as successful blacks. An object lesson: Gaijin showed up and immediately started talking about how niggers got plenny wounds to lick, they got no time to be successful. But IT IS NOT EXACTLY LIKE WOMEN HAVE ENJOYED MANY CENTURIES OF JOY. Successful woman anecdotes are better as a counterargument than as evidence. In fact there is a huge and rich chain of counterarguments against my stuff using the examples of women: in business, in education, in politics, etc. Counterarguments I would have had a lot of trouble confuting!

3. The identity politics argument in general is juuuuuust this side of a bluff. I mean: when so much of my argument was about quantifiables, identity politics is a permanent unquantifiable. At any point, Caltrops could have stopped me and said "bitch, you are telling me that black people are seriously saying "damn the man!" by fucking themselves in the asses?" Because fuck knows I'm not going to go LOOK UP any relevant support for that whole elegant-yet-fragile line of reasoning. It doesn't matter if it's TRUE or RIGHT. What matters is how can I back up this assertion? Certainly not in any entertaining or accessible way.

Point 3 is an example of one of the very best games of argument brinksmanship I know of: it's a game of Chicken. Instead of seeing who swerves first, you see who gets the last word in before crossing the line into Too Academic. Whenever Republicans play this game with Democrats, Republicans win. :(

4. Why didn't I do the whole post as an outline? Too many of those words were supposed to make the post more colloquial and readable, but really, they were just dead weight. A sweet opportunity for the Creex fanclub to sweep in with WHO IS LONG-WINDED NOW, BITCH?!
