In his latest (ironically Michael Moore inspired) film, our Hero, Evan Maloney, blows this lid wide open on the fact that Berkeley has kooky protests.
His production company, Fair and Balanced On The Fence Films, has a catalog of similar pieces, mostly dealing with the Canadian commune's healthcare system (which killed his father and raped his mother).
Two Women (2007)
In Two Women, filmmakers Stuart Browning and Blaine Greenberg show that having the government determine health care access and priorities can have truly unfortunate consequences for some people.
The "on the fence" part is covering up the actual title of "socialist healthcare turns chicks into bull dykes" with the more acceptable term "some people".
A Short Course in Brain Surgery (2006) Watch It Now! A Short Course in Brain Surgery shows the callousness of "single-payer", government-run health care systems as practiced in Ontario, Canada. The film highlights the plight of Lindsay McCreith, an Ontario man with a cancerous brain tumor who went to Buffalo, NY to receive the timely medical care that is rationed in his home country.
The only tragedy I'm seeing here is that somebody was forced to spend time in Buffalo. That's just wrong.
Dead Meat (2005) Watch It Now! Dead Meat is a short film which shows the reality of health care under Canada's socialized medical system: Canadians wait ... and wait. And sometimes - they die while waiting for free government health care.
Why does the People's Republic of the North deny their citizens the timely life saving benefits of private HMOs?
This short premiered at the Liberty Film Festival in West Hollywood, CA on Oct 21, 2005.
Must have missed the Freedom Film Festival's submission date. Probably wasted time financing the picture to cover the US' higher filming cost. =(
