A very frustrating episode. The ship had a cylon virus and needed to bring Shannon out of the brig to keep it from losing power during an expected cylon attack. She did, and then disabled 300 incoming cylon fighters which were left to float helplessly in space. The fleet, which earlier in the episode was shown as being so starved for parts that 'the Chief', who was secretly brewing alcohol to trade for scrap, could barely assemble one new fighter from scratch, then decided to DESTROY all the helpless fighters! These fighters were of the same type that the brass freaked out completely over when Starbuck imperiled one, described at the time as a 'prized military asset', when she used it to recover the holy arrow. Here they had more of these assets floating around them then they could fit in their hangers, yet decided to destroy each and every one!
The decision was made all the more ridiculous when, after destroying the entire defenceless cylon fleet, they cut to a scene on the flightdeck showing that 'the chief' couldn't even find enough scrap to coat the outsides of his new fighter. As if this whole situation weren't ludicrous enough, THEN some dipshit's like, "Seeing as we can't find enough scrap steel, why not, as an alternative, coat it with some incredible stealth composite! Surely we must have some of that shit lying around!" 5 minutes later, they launch a handmade stealth ship more advanced than anything we've seen in the series up until this point.
