Howie friggin' Meeker was on hand this week to open a new Rocket Richard exhibit at the Alberni Valley museum. The exhibit is the product of three years of negotiations with the Canadian Museum of Civilization, and will be on display until April 21st, when it moves on to Red Deer, Alberta. Included in the exhibit are four of Richard's hockey sticks and his 1959 Stanley Cup ring, which can be viewed through a magnifying glass built into its protective case.
In unrelated news, the Paramount Theatre - which houses the Alberni Valley's one and only movie screen - has announced that The Painted Veil staring [sic] Edward Norton is the last "art film" they plan to show anytime soon, citing lack of interest. |
