It's no more and no less than another Eliiot Smith album, rougher around the edges, and perhaps less structurally cohesive, but really what I've come to expect. This is far from the best album of the years, and probably not the best in his catalogue either, but he's in fine form—still melancholy, still fond of solemn waltzes and wry wordlplay, still capable of writing songs that are unassumingly good if not great.
Yeah, that's about it. |
