I haven't played it as much as I wanted to, but, the great generals add a new dynamic which can have you pumping Praetorians with shitloads of upgrades, like some kind of bronze war machine. They make some long drawn-out wars bearable, but you'll still find yourself failing technologically if you try to become a fighting powerhouse, at least I did.

They fucked around with all the traits to throw in some of their new ones. No more Indian wonder rushes, as Ghandi isn't finding himself as industrious now. You can find a detailed list on civfanatics, the changes didn't peeve me much, but it's still a pain in the ass. The new traits really aren't that great. There is protective which is just the opposite of aggressive. If you find turtling as frustrating and insulting to your penis as I do you probably will avoid this. Also, all the Asians get it, I personally don't find playing as them emasculating.

I never find myself playing as any of the new Civs, the Koreans are alright just to shoot people with fireworks. There are some new scenarios with different tech-trees and stuff. I really haven't even dealt with any of those.

It doesn't add much to the game, new faces, new units, and Stalin. It's worth the bread if you got distracted from Civ 4 and want something to pull you back in. However, if you're still riveted you're going to find it lacking.
