Even if real, that red pen author is far too self-aware and thinks too highly of the writers. My female boss would read that script and then sit down with me to go over the changes, all the while in extreme panic (because I JUST DON'T GET IT). "Ok, ok, Homer. Homer Simpson is the husband of Marge Simpson. A lovable buffoon. For example, in season 2, he impersonates Mr. Burns, but is unable to remember his first name. Let's go look at that episode together..."
My male boss would be more insulting. "That's a really really good first draft, Fussbett. Ya know, what we need to do is just make it a bit more muscular. More robust. I'd like to bring in Kathy as a writer. She worked for the CBC for 25 years, on things like the Terry Fox Story mini-series. For her to whip off this script over the weekend would be a real piece of cake. A total pro. I'm sure she would be happy to give you some pointers. She probably uses a dedicated, more muscular script writing program that's specifically suited to the task. Start there. Find out what program she's using and install it on one of these computers. We'll make a dedicated scripting workstation."
The above post is really funny for my co-workers. I hope you all enjoyed it too :(. |
