Here is an unrelated post of equal or lesser quality. by Jerry Whorebach 11/27/2006, 8:00pm PST
I was pretty strongly anti-gay marriage for a while there but then I found out that superstar Street Fighter II player David Sirlin disagrees with me, the First District Court of Appeal in San Francisco, and I guess society as a whole. Now I'm not sure what to believe so maybe you guys and Zseni can help me out.

As I understand it, there are three parties in any legal marriage - the bride, the groom, and the state. The bride gives the groom the use of her womb and its assorted facilities in exchange for a fixed portion of his wealth. Children are produced, which the state can employ in a military or industrial capacity to secure additional wealth for the benefit of all grooms and by extension the brides who marry them.

But a homosexual relationship doesn't work like that. Not only does the state not get any children, it actually loses two 'fish' from its gay dating 'pool'. What incentive does the state - and the mostly-straight men it represents - have to join in their union? And why can't a queer fellow be satisifed that his marriage is valid in the eyes of his partner, his community, and his God without getting the government and its sweet financial incentive programs involved?
