and no I'm not going to attribute it to a link, so you can dismiss this info as garbage, and I DON'T EVEN CARE, but at some point someone was saying that the processors (which have 8 something or others built in) are constructed with such an iffy process that the majority don't work as they come off the line and have to be scrapped.

Bottom line was that the actual construction price per unit (factoring in the number of parts that are wasted) was closer to $1100 per PS3.

I think they think they're going to sell a lot of BluRay discs to people that buy PS3s to make it up. BUT: here's a problem with that. Most people don't play DVDs on their PS2 because PS2s eventually wear out, and DVD players are cheap. I doubt that the BluRay experience is going to differ from the DVD experience enough to make people actually buy a BluRay player, and if I were crazy enough to drop $700 on a PS3 I wouldn't be watching The Mummy on it.

So, I'm wrong about practically everything in life, but my guess is that they might be disappointed with the sales performance of these boxes. It might be a long tme before they're making a profit off them.

Not even news. Most consoles are loss leaders at launch. Software is profit. NT by Fussbett 11/17/2006, 9:19am PST NEW
Right. Remember the Linux fanboys trying to bankrupt MS during the XBOX launch? by mark 11/17/2006, 9:55am PST NEW
