Anyway, for his flaming leather-bar homo routine on TV, he has earned the stern disapproval of the only lesbian in Japan, parlimentary memberess Kanako Otsuji. Par for the course, until you realize that Haa-do Gei's whole deal is wearing hot pants and performing Norman Rockwell-esque good deeds: picking up trash in parks, helping star-crossed lovers meet, aiding local small businesses with marketing, that sort of thing. I don't know about you, but after getting over the shock of seeing a grown man with a child's face in his crotch on prime time nationally broadcasted TV, I thought the weirdest thing about Hard Gay was the public works portion of the show. It would appear that everyone in Japan would greatly prefer to receive its moral admonishments from a visibly immoral source. Hard Gay: the perverse inverse of the modern Republican party?
