Well in MA2 you can get out of your mech and run around on foot, so you can get a true sense of scale. The mechs just aren't really that massive, they're more of a "sensible" or practical size for a mobile weapons platform. The Atlas is pretty damn tall tho. Also in both MA games the mechs still sorta look like plasticy toys with neat shiny lights and doodads. Not horrible but not very impressive.

I assume by "rail shooter" you mean the game's weapons are all direct fire beams like the gauss rifle (aka RAIL GUN), which is incorrect since LRMS can arc over walls and a tremendus amount of the beam weapons will auto-track targets when you fire on anything in your reticle. Unless you actually mean that it's a linear game, in which case you just need to more thoroughly douche your baby vent.
