If you don't like the moderators, don't piss them off.

As someone who has been on the net reading forums for a long long time (before that it was Usenet and before that it was BBSs for me ) believe me when i say I prefer more moderation to less.

Unmoderated forums suck the large one. Every once in a while I check out an unmoderated forum and come away shaking my head.

I think that when people feel they've been wronged on a placed called a forum, there first reaction is to discuss it. You might not know why that makes sense, but just put all your chips on Worm for this one, I'll steer you straight.

If you don't enjoy this thread, you might not want to post in it.

I think you guys are under too much strain personally, a bigger staff could really help.

Can't such a stupid post just be ignored by the users, or eliminated by fair debate?

Lol. I have better things to do than "eliminating such posts by fair debate", and I assume that goes for the staff as well.

Have any of you actually used unmoderated forums? (Aimed at the OP and anybody who agrees with them).

They are a complete mess. Unusable. If you want unmoderated, go and use newsgroups. Moderated forums are easier to use and safer.

I also challenge you to point out the "lots" of posts that don't break the rules, and yet get censored.

Because that's not what our forums are for. They're not for baiting or arguing. This has stayed civil, and that's why I (personally) haven't locked it. But it's just about run its course.

you are here because this is a special privilege awarded to you that you didn't have before. using the forums is another special privilege awarded to you. anything that this site offers you is a privilege on its own, and moreso, a gift from the administrator and each community member to you.

I'm not sure if you've ever been a moderator anywhere, and if you have I'm sure it's not on this scale. I'd say they do it because they love this site (more than you do) they love music (possibly more than you do, who can say), and they want this to be the best tracker on the net (which they've achieved).

Personally, I find the best analogy for a site like OPP to be that you are at someone's house. It's not public, you have the privilege of being on someone else's property, you aren't entitled to that much (and you should be thrilled with what you get!), and you should behave yourself. It's not that difficult to stay out of trouble.
