I upgraded my hardware! A new mouse. :( by Creexul :( 08/16/2006, 8:18pm PDT
Replacing a $20 IBM mouse I got like 5 fawkin years ago with a GE mouse that was only $12.99 (at Target............s). :( But the reason being that my old mouse wheel just gave out completely. I spent like 5 days spinning it emptily and watched it do nothing until I was just spinning the wheel for no reason anymore.

So I was glad to see that it wouldn't be $20 minimum to replace this junk, even though for like $13 I figure it can't be really great. But it has TWO mouse wheels!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WOAAAAAAAAAAAAA THAT'S INSANE. Also two extra buttons on the side.

The problem: it doesn't seem very accurate. The cursor seems to jump around pixel by pixel or square by square like on a grid, both in games and on the desktop. Maybe the mouse is more slippery than my old one and I'm just not used to this one yet. Apparently its whatever is like 800 dpi, and it said on the box THAT THAT'S REALLY HIGH with THE LATEST optical mouse technology (like........ it's a laser that replaces a mouse ball?). The question is, is it? Does it seem not as good because I didn't actually install the software on the CD yet? Should I do that? And what could possibly be updated with optical mouse technology besides slapping like 100 extra buttons and wheels on and saying it's high tech like some kind of wired magazine amazing lifechanging discovery?
