I didn't actually meet the 2.2 ghz cpu requirement, so none of the movies worked at all (they just showed a black screen with a giant crossed out square). However, I did still complete the demo, which ran the normal game at like 15 fps with all the settings at rock bottom.
If the demo levels are an accurate example of the full game, which is unlikely, then there are monster killing physics opportunities in every corner of every map. One of my favorites is being able to do a duke nukem kick to force enemies back a few steps, into a spiked wall or a bonfire or off cliffs. You could even substitute an object like a crate or barrel for your kick.
The experience system is about getting a few skill points to level whatever you want. The preview movies show characters specialized in basic warrior type melee combat, magic use, or sneaky stealth shit. You can actually put skill points into any of the 3 class types you want, altho I'm sure you cant load up on infinite skill points to max everything like Fable.
So far, its pretty fuckin swee, even if I have some trouble with graphical bugs and glitches (because my computer is so fucking old). The demo includes the map shown in most of the current trailers and stuff where you fight orcs on rickety wooden platforms. When about 3 came at me at once, I was pretty sure they were gonna fuck me up even with my 6 health potions. However, the various set up traps, combined with my current combat abilities in both melee and stealth (YO SNAKE CHECK IT GO SNEAK THAT SHIT, OKAY!) let me cut them down without nearly as much trouble as I had imagined.
There's lots of satisfaction in clearing enemies, avoiding death, and completing your objectives. There were a few parts that really just had me staring at the game in amazment, a feeling I haven't had since the previous supar fun source powered RPG, VTM Bloodlines. |
