Its more conventional cousin was a much more accessible game. Since both were among the handful available for Mac at the time, I played the hell out of them. OUTW always confused me with its artsy graphics, because people kept swearing they were great (much like the less than visually pleasing but decent Spectre tank game) and I couldn't figure out how a marginal improvement in motion capture was superior to more appealing 2d sprite animation.

I didn't even know enough to know that the instadeathing in that sort of game was out of control. However, I drew the line at the laser gun that ran out of ammo with no indication whatsoever. That was total bullshit.
