Does anybody on here have any experience with their company going ITIL-compatible?
I've been investigating IT workflow stuff as sort of an extension of my duties while working for the Man every night and day. There's a lot of big reorganizations happening where I work regarding the IT departments, particularly re: internal IT support and work orders, and in a bizarre twist I'm kind of being asked to organize it all. In my investigations I keep running across this idea that all major companies are going to be utilizing ITIL best practices "by 2008," which is ridiculous, but it seems like if there's a lot of useful information there it would be worth looking into... IF it's not all a giant scam. In reading what there is available free online it really seems mainly to function as a way for consultants to transfer lots of corporate money into the consultants' accounts.
So, does anyone know if the ITIL thing is worth looking at for a fairly huge IT department (5000 external users, 3500 internal users, about 900 incidents per day)? |
