We use the cheap, non-free version at work to create drawings with AutoCAD to send to clients or consultants. The free version opens up a PDF995 ad browser every time you use it, which was what we had at my old job. I used it all the time and didn't find it too annoying beyond the fact that my boss was a cheap-ass.
