WOW IS THIS THE REAL REX REED??? by I need clarification 03/25/2006, 4:30pm PST Spielberg's movies these days are more about his motivations than his characters. And he has a limited set of motivations, all of which are evident in every scene of every movie: 1. He wants to be a serious director 2. He wants to win an Oscar for every movie he makes 3. In order to achieve the above, he wants to create as many indelible moments in the audience's mind as possible. To him, it's better to string together as many of these moments as possible, because they will ALL ADD UP to a great movie, right? So, we get things like Adam GoldBERG (psh) being stabbed by that Nazi in Saving Private Ryan, and the Dutch woman walking around naked while blood comes out of the hole in her chest. Spielberg finally allows himself to see a naked woman (CHILDLIKE WONDER!!!), but only if she's already dying, and dead. He sucks. Oh, other great moments are Hitler signing giving Indy an autograph in Last Crusade and the ferris wheel coming off its mounts and rolling around Santa Monica in 1941. GREAT.
