Hitman 2: Silent Assassin by Lurker Shoomoser 07/23/2004, 11:32am PDT
People told me Hitman 3(aka Hitman: Contracts) is very much like Hitman 2, and since the old Hitman 3 review went up in proverbial flame with the rest of the forum, I may as well talk about the game that will make me hate Hitman 3.

Do you like open ended gameplay? Do you like to have multiple solutions to every problem? Well people like to point out this is the strength of gameplay in Hitman 2, well they just need their bimonthly reality check when they are not getting blowjobs from PR people. The game called 'Real Life' (not to be confused with the MTV knock off 'The Real World') does this much better than Hitman 2 in this respect. Take this away and you get a lame shooter.

The game obviously was designed to make you kill people silently (hence the title), and in every level there will definitely be one way to achieve your objective silently. BUT! There is very little lattiude for this one route gameplay, because many windows of opportunity are scripted and allow you only one way to approach it. The fun is over when you figured out what the designers wanted you to do.

Perhaps you can have lots of fun during this process? Not likely, because at best, the solution is obvious (I was given CAR BOMBS, and the targets are arriving and leaving by cars. WHAT IS THE CONNECTION?!!1), at worse it is a trial and error experimental process: there are only so many ways to kill someone when you are given a sniper rifle and the target is inside a building surrounded by guards. If you break the mould, you then have to murder your way thru the remaing level, turning it into a rather crappy shooter, because there will be no health pack.
