Harvest Moon: Friends of Mineral Town.
This game is part of a long-running series with eagerly anticipated sequels???
I can't even go into the shitty controls and bugs and lazy translation. All of this is eclipsed by the fact that this is a game about drudgery. It's not even the drudgery of powerleveling so you can shove a lightning sword up the king of darkness' ass. It's not even collecting bones and pelts and moisture to build your stormtrooper armor piece by piece. There isn't even a high score to gain. It's drudgery for drudgery's sake. After an hour of watering virtual turnips and breaking rocks in the mines I finally had the $800 necessary to buy a goddamned horse brush.
And it's pointless! There is no way of winning! No rival farmers, no natural disasters, just nothing nothing and more nothing. Level up your hoe so you can triple the number of goddamn squares you need to water. Buy a cow to give yourself 2 additional tasks to perform each day for no reason.
Might and Magic 6, Mortyr, Blood 2, all of them had something slightly appealing about them. There is nothing appealing about this game. This game will make your inner child want to clean his room.
Or is that the appeal? |
