It's a situation comedy about a college graduate going home and moving back in with his parents. It relies heavily on deadpan humor and people thrust into uncomfortable and awkward situations. There is no laugh track, the camera follows the characters and there are lots of shots from the first person. The cast is large but with one or two characters who are obviously the focus.
This could not be a more transparent rip off of Arrested Development. The main character, Nate (Josh Dean), has the same self-effacing mannerisms and lanky handsomeness as Michael Bluth. Nate's mother has the same boozy, cynical wit as Lucille, and his father appears to have been cast based on physical resemblance to George Sr. alone.
It was only on because I watched the NASCAR race earlier today. |
