Similar to HL, you occasionally find friendly good guys in a few rare tucked away maps, rewarded to you for playing long enough. Enemy human troops can either be VC or Marines, but the good guys are always Special Forces (that just makes sense). The game doesn't just give you the ability to command more than 2 as an upgrade to the original HL code, you can now issue a large set of commands like to specifically order covering fire (yay), or to set the guys following you to move somewhere like behind you or around something. You can even set them to "seek and destroy" so they will intellegently patrol the map area looking for enemies to kill. The NPCs who speak english all say cool stuff, which is great (altho the enemy marines sound sort of Australian). The whole game is full of tons of excellent audio, in both speech form and environment sounds.
Overall it's just an amazingly quality package, and the people who made it deserve some money. |
