I'm finding the Special Forces maps very sniper friendly. In theory the grappling hook and zipline makes all sniper posts more accessible for people to knife the snipers, but with so much tall architecture it's almost a hassle for people to track down and deal with the sniper... Or so goes my theory, because I'm not sure why I was so unmolested as I racked up 25+ kills on Warlord, protecting the TV Station. I used to criticize the sniper class a lot, especially while Entropy Stew thought it was so much fun, but then I saw the light of the "kill damage assist". Basically I achieved an inner peace where I just try to put as many bullets into as many soldiers as possible, not worrying about the kills. Instead of securing that 2 points for a kill, I would later cash in many single points for the kill damage assist when my nearly-dead injured soldier inevitably died at someone else's hand. But then, this week on Warlord I saw a new light that was behind the previous light I had already seen. Now I take my shot with the sniper rifle but instead of waiting for the bolt-action reload, I immediately switch to the silenced pistol and empty the clip on the target, no matter how far away. It only takes one crummy leg shot to take away those final two health bars, and last night I got both the basic and veteran pistol badges without trying. |
