Forgetting that they've been to the Super Bowl. Jonesy, DO NOT READ. Your head may explode. (Although the bit about Jerome Bettis was funny.)
I'm cool with people expression sports-related frustration, even though their team has been to the Super Bowl twice. A guy who lost his legs in the war wouldn't try to strangle everyone who complained about sore feet. He'd go insane otherwise.
And it WAS a crushing loss. It's like, Palmer couldn't just go down... he went down in the process of throwing a 66 yard pass. The thing that would make me angry, if I were a Bengals fan, would be their uniforms. But secondly, the thing that would make me angry is that they are finally in a position to punch their personal bullies (the Steelers) in the mouth... and the Steelers take out their MVP candidate QB during the first possession. The Bengals have to be "that much" better than Pittsburgh, because it seems like something will always come up in the Steelers' favor.
What was hilarious was seeing the Giants lose, shut out in the playoffs again. Some GMs are yanking their hair out trying to get a 7th playoff spot added, and then there's the Giants waltzing in and making a spectacle of themselves. As they have the worst fan base in sports, it couldn't happen to a nicer bunch of people. Maybe the league can give them 11 home games next year to help them get that first round bye. Not that they won't either get shut out when they do play and/or beat by Mariucchi (which I put on the same level).
