| I bought a new 300 GB WD hard drive and did a complete copy of my 250 GB Maxtor to the new disk. When I go to boot up XP, the system loads up the desktop wallpaper, but it won't load up explorer.exe. If I hit Ctrl+Alt+Del, there's some normal looking tasks running, but no explorer.exe. If I Run Task to start explorer, it starts briefly and then immediately vanishes again: no error message, no nothing. I tried doing a repair install of XP - no luck. I also tried creating a new user profile, with no results. The same thing occurs in safe mode or with restore points. Any suggestions barring a complete reinstall? I'm going to try to copy it back to the Maxtor and hope it'll work this time, but if anyone else has an idea, I'd love to hear it. I wanted to use the 300 GB as a boot drive, the 250 GB as the slave, and the old 160 GB in an Xbox, but it seems life conspires against me. | ||||
