DEAD MAN'S SHOES is a movie about an ex-soldier coming home and extracting delicious revenge on some local petty thugs. It's got a good comic book (Punisher) feel to it, and it could've been written by Frank Miller if he wasn't so obsessed with his homosexuality and hiding his homosexuality. Miller would also have to be very very British. A pro and con of this movie's Britishness is how British it is. I missed a good 20% of the dialog, but on the upside you get the education and exotic feel of a foreign movie without troublesome subtitles.
Be sure not too read too much about this movie before going in, because people are quick to spoil a plot point, which while not huge, might come as a nice surprise. I WAS NOT AFFORDED SUCH LUXURY BY THE SPOILERS.
(Also: CHEYNE STOKING -- A pattern of breathing where the respiration rates increase and then decrease followed by increasing periods of not breathing (a sign that someone is about to die).) |
