No one gives a fuck what Warren Spector's mom thinks, and in fact most of us don't care what he thinks, either.
Surprise, Warren! People do the right thing because they feel compelled by law, ethics, morality, religion, whatever, not because they dream of some day helping an old lady across the street and getting away with it. If you made a game where people could do things without consequences, they might call it "fun" too.
Wait, didn't you make Thief, Deus Ex, and some Ultima sequels? I've electronically killed a lot of electronic people on your watch, bub, and I lived to tell the tale.

...for some reason I thought Phil Spector, and couldn't get past wondering why he'd say this after killing his girlfriend. Phil would play GTA3 and recognize the aesthetic value of being able to get away with murder. |
